"Gadhafi Likely to Survive Revolt"- By James

Gadhafi is more likely to survive the revolt because his has more specialized equipment. Gadhafi main power is in the air. If the U.S. agrees to have a "No-Fly Zone" in Libya, Gadhafi may become vulnerable. Without air support, the rebels might have a chance to reach the capital. But so far it's not enforced so Gadhafi has the upper hand. Gadhafi also has more rocket propelled grenade. If the weapons get into the wrong hands, there's no telling what happens. Some of the weapons had been taken away by rebels to help their revolt. By they were unable to acquired an air craft to help in the air. Officials in the U.S. say that Gadhafi has technically have no power. Dozens have lives have been taken away during the revolt in Libya.

"Award Show Round Ups" By: Ellen Crowley

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No it’s not the holiday season, it’s award ceremony season. With the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards over and the Academy Awards, and the Emmys around the corner, the entertainment industry is abuzz with anticipation. Some of top contenders this year are films such as The King’s Speech, Inception, Black Swan, 127 Hours, The Fighter, True Grit and The Social Network and shows such as Glee, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, The Office, and 30 Rock.
The Golden Globes are determined by the votes of the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. At the Golden Globes, The Social Network went home with the big awards of the night such as Best Motion Picture in a Drama, Best Director in a Motion Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Score.  Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer from Glee won for best performance by an actor and actress respectively.
The SAG awards are determined by the votes of the members (approximately 100,000) the Screen Actors guild. The big winner of the night was The King’s Speech which won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Colin Firth won Outstanding Performance by a male actor in a leading role. Other big winners were Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Betty White, and Melissa Leo.
This year in the film and television industry have raised the bar. I am excited to see what is next to come from the Screen Actors Guild.

"Orlando Magic Coach Takes Up Dwight Howard Cause"- By James

Orlando Magic Coach Takes Up Dwight Howard Cause
Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy says he thinks Dwight Howard might have had some restraint on the court. Howard has a one game suspension after picking up his sixteenth technical foul. For every two technical fouls that he receives for the remainder of the season, he must sit out one game. "It's very tough, but I've just got to do it. I think it's like they want to make an example out of me, but I'll just stay positive and continue to do all the things that I do to bring fun to the game. That's all I can do. I'm not a bad guy. I'm not a hothead because I get techs, and I think that's the message that people want to put across." said Howard to reporters. Van Gundy said that even though Howard had been excessively fouled, Howard is still playing hard on the court. Howard still practices with the team and he tries not to let the officiating affect how he plays. He always thinks about the future and not the past or the present.

"Summer Reading" By Kelley

To some people, summer reading is a must. To others, it’s unnecessary and a big hassle. Some adults believe that every single student should have to read multiple books over the summer so that they do not lose any progress they have made throughout the school year. This is understandable. To read a few books over the summer and do projects to go along with them may not look so bad from an instructor’s point of view.
On the other hand, it can be very inconvenient for the students and their families. Whether they are traveling or just trying to relax during their time off, it puts a lot of pressure on them to get them all finished and ready before school starts. Kids and their families look at summer as a time to relax and not have to worry about schoolwork or anything.
There are a few possible solutions. Every kids wish would to not have to complete summer reading at all. Compromising would be more realistic. A good solution would be to have each student read one book of their choice (within reason) over the summer and then do a book report on it. This would compromise not having to read multiple books over the summer and keeping up their reading level over the summer.
